The nutritious meals I hold as a college athlete:

Breakfast: OK, so I skipped it again.

Midmorning Snack: Snicker Bar

Lunch: Dirty caf. food - Some sort of shrimp, crusty tator tots, stale cereal, and a sorry excuse for Chili. This along with my daily glass of orange juice and milk. The caf. really needs to step its game up.

Snack: Easy Mac in my room. Add a little salt and peper and you got yourself a delacacy. Along with a Mountain Dew

Dinner: Hardy's ultra-greesy double cheeseburger along with some scrumptious curly fries and a big glass of Cherry Coke.

Bedtime snack: Half a frozen pizza. Can't eat the whole thing, gotta watch my weight...


OK, so as you see my nutrician is not ideal for a college athlete. But hey, its college right?
I've decided on that dead week is not so dead after all. In fact, I could argue that this is my busiest week of the school year. I've had endless amounts of papers and projects to do, all on top of trying to make that final push to get my grades where I want them.

It is not just me either, people around me are busy as well. The problem is, we all have this image of dead week in our head that we shouldn't have anything to do. So, people start to get lazy and then their grades suffer.

So, whenever I hear someone say dead week, I just roll my eyes and think to myself how ignorant that person is. Dead means lifeless, and this week is full of life.

Tuesday schedule

The tough schedule of a college athlete can be grueling.

Tuesday, May 5:

6:15 - Wake up and get dressed
6:30 - Run the 300 yard shuttle for football (x2)
7:15 - Grab a quick breakfast before class
7:45 - Developmental Psychology.
9:25 - Western Civilization.
12:00 - Lunch
12:30 - Writing Center visit
3:30 - Track meeting (voting on captains)
4:45 - Lifting in football groups
6:00 - Dinner
7:00 - Visit my Grandpa and do laundry
11:00 - Head back to school
12:00 - Bed


The busyness can be hectic but it is worth it in the end. This schedule is a daily occurrence, although some days it can be slower or busier.

Game Day

Friday night was the annual red - white scrimmage for our football team. I did not play in it as hoped because I had missed practices due to track season. Nonetheless I did go and enjoyed watching our new offense thrive.
It was hard sitting in the locker room waiting for the game to begin knowing I wasn't suited up. Watching my teamates and friends prepare did bring back memories and remind me what all the hard work is for. Now I have to wait until Sept. 5 to pull on the uniform at home against Dordt! That is what I work for!
The game a long with track confrence on sat. did put me behind in my homework however, and now I have been working on articles and a very important paper and falling behind. But hey, thats what college is for, right?
